About You!
Personality: Edana loves adventure. She is a kind and caring person, but can be quick to temper if someone pushes her buttons. She makes her best attempt to see the good in everyone; looking past their background, and whether or not they have special powers or not. She seems incapable of truly hating anyone, except those who truly lack any good or hope for redemption.
Likes: Edana has a strong interest in the world of benders, and if she met such individuals, she would treat them not only with respect, but kindness. She enjoys to learn about new things, and to make new friends. Edana also seems to have an affinity with animals and the spirits; even to the point where she can calm dangerous predators and spirits gone dark.
Dislikes: Edana cannot stand people who try to put other people down, or impose their power on weaker people. She also can't tolerate fear-mongering- when somebody else makes someone feel they can't do anything, out of fear. She has yet to meet a bender, but she is already against anti-benders, because of the ways that they act towards benders- who are in fact, humans just like them.
History: Born in the city of Shugoryuu no Kuni, Edana was raised to know the truth of the world, and the reality of the benders. She was fascinated by the proto-benders in the temple at a young age, but as she grew older, she began to see through their tricks. While impressive, they were fake. She wanted to see the real thing.
While kind and nurturing, Edana's mother was oft times overprotective, doing what she could with Edana's father long gone, long before Edana was ever born. Edana was always curious about who he was, but asking about him only ever made her mother cry. So, over time, she forgot altogether. Still, Edana was curious about the outside world! However, her mother would have none of it; Edana was her special girl, her only little girl, and needed to be kept close and safe.
Edana grew tired of it. Between the ages of seven and fifteen, she often snuck out at night, making her way into the wilds just outside of town, where the spirits lived. The first night, she expected to be alone in her exploration, until one day she met an older woman, whom called herself Moya. Moya lived in the wilds, something that surprised Edana; while generally in-hostile, the spirits still didn't take all that kindly to the humans. Yet here Moya was, a friend to the spirits!
Edana began to learn from Moya, in the art of harmony. Edana learned how to calm angry spirits, and to befriend them, as well as do the same with angry beasts. She also learned another art from Moya; the art of true chi, as the woman called it. Edana of course had heard of the chi-blocking form, but Moya condemned it, saying it was terrible, robbing a person of their defenses. Moya said that a better way was to look to bettering oneself, and taught Edana how to use her chi differently; to make herself stronger, faster, and healthier. Edana relished this training very much, going to see Moya each and every night (at the cost of sleep).
One day, Moya told Edana that she was moving on. She had places to go, and people to meet, and things to do. Edana was distressed, but eventually accepted it, still continuing to train harmony with the spirits and animals. As she grew older, however, her mother grew...odder. She became more angry and bitter, to the point Edana did not know who her own mother was anymore. She decided to leave, and told her mother as such. She tried not to cry when her mother did, and while difficult, she left the city to travel the world, as her mentor had.
