Name: Royce, Blackburn.
Birthday: Eighth of September.
Age: 28
Gender: Male.
Element: Air.
Height: Long of limb and lofty of stature, the airbender is tall enough to loom over many he meets, but his spare frame and unhealthy pallor ensures that he is not particularly intimidating.
Weight: Despite his tall frame and wiry strength, Royce is surprisingly light on his feet, slender and lithely built.
Hair Color: Raven's-wing black, without much lustre or shine to it.
Hair Length: Short and messy, Royce's hair is the only part of his appearance not meticulously kept and maintained.
Eye Color: Dull, dark green.
Skin Color: Pale, almost unhealthily so.
Body Type: Thin and long of limb, Royce has a lithe, gangly build, which suggests his nimbleness, fleet-footedness and dexterity, as well as his unimpressive physical strength.
Personality: Focused, precise and incredibly meticulous, Royce has an introverted, brooding personality that stems from his poor social skills, the engineer often uncomfortable or awkward in social situations, preferring his own company, and the peace and quiet of his studio. Coldly polite at the very least, to all he meets, Royce may be focused, professional, cool and driven, but he isn't unfeeling, the young engineer an utter stranger to many affairs of the heart, as well as genuine friendship, something which often embarrasses him on his few outings into the city. Owing to his drive and desire for precision and efficiency in all things, Royce can often become lost in the minutia of his work and plans, taking copious notes on all he does and discovers (sometimes to the detriment of the wider plan), in the hopes of improving some facet of his work or plans, the engineer a firm believer that there is nothing which cannot be made more efficient.
Likes: Royce enjoys his work as much as he does his peace and quiet, putting both together in the small, darkened studio within his apartment where he produces most of his work. The engineer likes to keep his personal effects and property (as well as his own body) neat and organized, and to maintain an up-to date diary, the daily action of updating and checking his list of current and completed objectives, one of great comfort to the socially withdrawn engineer. Royce smokes heavily, and often, enjoying the relaxing effect it has on his body, along with the occasional evening of drinking. Finally; Royce has considerable musical talent, despite his distaste for most forms of music, the young engineer enjoying playing the guitar in his free time, with a clear preference for slow, downbeat songs.
Dislikes: A control AND neat freak, Royce hates mess, chaos, disruption to his plans, loss of control, large crowds of people, loud music, sounds or people, and strong or spicy foods. Additionally, he has a strong distaste for people with large egos and boisterous personalities, preferring to keep himself mostly to himself, never one to brag about his accomplishments, and the contributions he has made to his city.
History: Royce never knew his natural parents, or what had happened to them, raised as he was by his overprotective aunt and uncle, who grew quiet whenever they were mentioned, and paled at the thought of letting him outside their humble home in Gihwe, fearful about what would happen to him if the authorities discovered who he was, and decided that he might share the same curse as his parents had before him, and accordingly, the same grisly fate.
So coddled was Royce Blackburn, so kept away from society and his peers, and the world outside their home, that he grew insular, quiet, analytical and withdrawn. An inquisitive child who never grew out of questioning why and how everything around him worked, it was in his youthful years that his prodigious mind was slowly made apparent as, from the windows of their little apartment, Royce began to draw and plan; efficient, elegant, detailed designs for the city beyond his home, taking shape in simple pencil and paper drawings of such complexity and precision that his protective relatives were astounded, and then, reluctantly, convinced to allow him to leave their home and constant oversight, and attend school, the young boy throwing himself wholeheartedly into his studies, his natural talents fostered and encouraged by teachers who recognized his potential.
Royce devoted himself hungrily to learning everything he could about his city, throughout his youth, exploring and studying in tandem until he understood every ebb and flow of the city in motion, and could draw detailed maps merely from memory, the young man graduating with great success in a wide variety of scientific, engineering and civic development courses, the bright young engineer rapidly snapped up by the city's officials to help with its ever-growing and shifting development, and spearheading the charge into the future with new structures, highways, infrastructure, housing and more, providing everything that the body wanted, but nothing that the soul needed, as is the way of Gihwe.
Royce loved the way his work changed and adapted over time, and relished the opportunity to build, develop and grow his grand city, devoting every waking moment to his work, either in his darkened studio, or out on the streets themselves, to the point where he only realized his true nature after a near-fatal fall caused him to Airbend, instinctively, in order to save himself from a gory fate.
Shaken by this revelation, and an understanding of what must have happened to his parents, Royce retreated into privacy, quiet and obscurity for a time, at the same time, his passion for the city and its development failing as he began to realise that the seemingly endless, vibrant, living, chaotic and constant growth and development of the city, was merely a pattern, as observable as any other, as different structures and architectural styles rose and fell out of popularity in predictable cycles, and his own new, avant-garde designs, engineered to create something enduring in order to break the stagnation of this cycle, became unpopular, and unwanted.
Unsure of himself, Royce now spends most of his time in his cool, calm, quiet apartment, strumming on his guitar, and trying his best to engineer or design something that will truly capture the passion of the city's people, but he is slowly falling to despair, coming to the realization that this city is not in fact the utopia of science and knowledge he once believed it to be, the growing strength and unpredictable nature of his bending powers, putting him further on edge, prompting him to keep to himself to avoid the same fate that his parents suffered at the hands of the citizens of this shining, soulless city.
