About You!
Personality: Kaiade is the type that likes to get destiny into her own hands. Whenever she feels she can interfere with her fate, she will typically go through any means necessary to achieve that outcome. The only times she feels comfortable leaving things up to chance is when there is absolutely no better option. This trait makes her more independent and stubborn as well, rarely accepting the assistance of others and rarely changes her mind without drastic evidence proving a more superior option than one she controls.
Being true to herself does not leave her without compassion, however. She deeply cares for anyone she can call a friend. She is not quick to hate and will typically give everyone a chance to prove themselves at least once, but once that chance is squandered it is very difficult to get her to change her mind. It’s pretty difficult to do this however, an individual would have to be truly unruly in order for her to completely turn her back.
When in the right mood or whenever a fight begins to brew, she has a tendency to get aggressive despite her compassion for others. Part of her inability to help comes from an inability to show weakness, thus she tends to overcompensate by acting too strong or being too forward when it wasn’t her truest intent. With all her strange traits combined, she has a tendency to either be an explosive mess or a kind, caring and gentle friend, and probably a slew of things in between. This can best be attributed to her being a little naive still, and that she truly hasn’t finished growing up.
Likes: All things water-related; mist, waterfalls, fountains, rivers, any source she she can directly see, touch, or hear of water will give her a soothing sensation. This is probably natural to any water bender but for her in particular the effects are probably more noticeable. Of course, her temper can still reveal itself where there’s water around, though more often than not she feels at ease there.
One of her favorite things is being given important solo tasks, and later complemented by others about what a good job she’s doing on her own. While it is this instinct of others to want to jump in and offer help with a tough task, it would actually be more beneficial for everyone involved if they simply acknowledged her work and carried on their own business.
And lastly, winning. Nothing speaks to her sense of pride more than winning; no matter how minuscule or significant. Winning is a huge mood and confidence booster for her. This attribute may sound pretty vague, but it’s honestly true; it hardly matters what the context is here, if it’s explicitly clear that she ‘won’, her eyes will light up like fireworks.
Dislikes:People with no sense of morality or a corrupted moral compass absolutely disgust Kaiade. She is perfectly willing to admit her flaws, but she always say that it doesn’t make her a bad person because she would never want to harm someone or spread misery without a very,
very good reason. In fact, she’ll probably tell you that outside of self defense, there probably doesn’t exist a good reason.
Another thing that bothers her is someone blatantly giving her the answer to whatever problem she might be having. While it goes in line with being helped, this one goes a little more beyond her ego (though still primarily fueled by it) in that she won’t learn anything if people just give her the answer. Part of the reason she is so hyped to figure things out herself is so that she learns how to take care of it in the future. Nothing is gained from things simply being done for her.
History:Kaiade’s parents lived in a smaller outlying town one of the major bender-oppressing cities, her father a strong water bender and her mother a non-bender, fell in love and kept their secret secure for as long as they could. Eventually they were caught and forced to run, but given a heads up by a very supporting and indifferent neighbor. If they had been inside one of the actual cities their escape never would have worked, but being in a small town increased their chances drastically.
They eventually made their way to the one city that accepts all people, benders and non-benders alike and started their lives over and had a beautiful daughter. They learned she was a water bender rather really on and felt terrified at first, but ultimately decided to embrace their child’s gift with their new freedom. They decided they would do anything raise their daughter proper.
Having grown up home-schooled and earned her keep by helping around the house, Kaiade would finally get to experience real socialization when she turned ten and sought more refined training for her bending arts, wanting to become stronger than her father in a shorter amount of time. She attended classes, being rather impatient at first and was temperamental about figuring out absolutely everything on her own, it took a while to even get the basics down. While she never liked help, one of her masters was absolutely right about her never being able to get stronger without first mastering her own inner will. It took her a couple more years, but she believes she’s come pretty close to finding an inner balance, and continues to grow in terms of bending strength.
Due to her training going so slow, now at the age of sixteen, she’s far from her father’s strength but now possess the tools to grow infinitely beyond that if she tries hard enough and opens herself up every now and again. So far, the only desire that has grown strong enough to rival her need for strength is her yearning to see where her parents are from and to explore what the world has to offer. Her parents remind her constantly of how forsaking the world is toward benders, but she’s not bound to heed that warning forever.
