Ranking Guide

The Ranking System on Avatar Journey is here to determine how strong you are in relation to other benders (and chi-blockers) on the site; mainly a combat thing, though it also gates your ability to learn advanced arts (such as Metalbending) until you reach the appropriate rank. There are 3 in total: Novice, which everyone starts at; Adept, which is the point where you're a rather scary opponent and can learn the higher arts with the proper training; and Master, which speaks for itself, giving you access to feats of strength that baffle the mind and the option to train others in advanced arts for lower word count requirements. Certain bending arts, such as Bloodbending and Energybending, will have restrictions outside of ranking- so keep that in mind.

Novice
Everyone starts here! You're not exactly weak, being a bender and all, but you're not as scary as an Adept or Master and can't move mountains or oceans yet. You have pretty solid control over your element to do with it as you wish within the confines of common sensibility. The exact details of each element can be found within the bending guide.

Adept
Requirement to unlock: 75 posts and 2,500 words of training. (1,500 words with a Master of the same element training you.)
No one's going to want to end up alone with you in a dark alley late at night. Here you can begin to learn the advanced arts branching from your main element, or pick up Chi-blocking as a Bender. They're as follows;

• Lava and Metalbending, as an Earthbender, as well as naturally being able to Sandbend to an extent at this level.
  
• Bloodbending, as a Waterbender, as well as naturally being able to Plantbend to an extent at this level.
  
• Lightning Generation, as well as Redirection with it, as a Firebender.
  
• Spiritbending as any base element; expounded upon in the Bending guide.
  
• Seismic Sense can be learned by Earthbenders who did not already get it at character creation by being blind.
  

Master
Requirement to unlock: 200 posts, 5,000 words and staff approval.
Wooah, man, you're ready to kick some ass now. Other benders look up to you; you're able to pull off some scary and mind blowing things at this rank, and can start to teach advanced bending arts you know to an Adept to reduce their word count and get you a bit of a relationship going. You can also train a Novice of your element to an Adept and reduce their word count, as well. Keep in mind, just meeting the requirements to upgrade to this rank isn't enough- you need to get approval from the staff! [/spoiler]
